Nova Health was originally started in November 1997 by Ravi R. Iyer, MD, PhD, to provide Adult Internal Medicine, Preventive Health Management and Geriatric Care to the Reston/Herndon, Sterling, Ashburn, Leesburg and Great Falls community.

The practice’s philosophy is to provide highly individualized care in a manner not seen in today’s HMO-driven, assembly-line medical factories. We chose the name "Nova Health" since we believe in this "New" (Nova) approach to the delivery of health and because we practice in Northern Virginia. This approach has been validated by the practices' steady growth from a small part-time office in Reston to TWO fully equipped offices in Sterling & Herndon.
