Dr. Ravi R. Iyer, MD, PhD.

Dr. Ravi R. Iyer, MD, Ph.D. is the Founding Physician & President of Nova Health Management & Research Group, an Internal Medicine practice focused on providing healthcare to the Adult populations of Northern Virginia, as well as a private research group on Holistic approaches to Health & Wellness.

In addition, Dr. Iyer serves currently as the Vice-Chairman of the Dept. of Medicine, Reston Hospital Center, Reston, VA

Dr. Iyer received his degree in Medicine in 1985 from Nalanda Medical College, India and his Doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Genetic Engineering in 1988 from The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India.

He came to the U.S. in 1988 as a postdoctoral Research Fellow in Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston and subsequently moved (in 1991) to Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School as a Research Fellow in Pediatrics and Medicine. An extensively published physician, he has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers on the biology of cancer and the human body’s defenses against infection, tumors and mechanisms of injury & repair.

His interests apart from the general issues of adult internal medicine are in the long term management of chronic health problems such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Heart disease & Heart Failure. He is also active in researching Holistic approaches to Stress Management, Health & Wellness.

Dr. Iyer is active in the South Asian community and is a Trustee of the Rajdhani Mandir, Pleasant Valley Dr., Chantilly, VA. He lives in Vienna, Virginia  with his wife and 2 children.
